The section of Philadelphia West of Broad Street between Girard Avenue and Spring Garden Streets is known as the Art Museum Area. It is named for its proximity to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Fairmount, the community in the area directly adjacent to the Art Museum, is named for the large hill on the Philadelphia Museum of Art currently sits. The Art Museum area is located blocks away from Fairmount Park, the largest urban landscaped park in the country.
The Fairmount and Art Museum areas offer some of the best attractions and activities in the city. You won’t be bored in this part of town! The Art Museum is home to world renowned museums like the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Ruth & Raymond G. Perelman Building, Rodin Museum, and The Barnes Foundation.
