Fitler Square is arguably the smallest and most charming neighborhood in Center City. Fitler Square’s borders are Locust Street to the north, South Street to the south, east by 21st and west to the Schuylkill River. This sought after area is fully residential with only a handful of artisan coffee shops and restaurants. Fitler Square feels and operates more like a small community, and its residents strive to maintain the clean and intimate neighborhood.
The Square hosts weekend farmers markets, which is open year round and supported by local farmers from the neighboring counties and is organized by the Pennsylvania Food Trust. The Square also hosts yearly events like the Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Tree lighting, and Spring Fair for the community.
The attraction of Fitler Square has been the revitalization and expansion of the Schuylkill River Park, an urban oasis complete with playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, dog park, urban garden, and access to the Schuylkill River Trail, recently named in 2015 by USA Today the nations “Best Urban Trail”.
